What is Parenting Wisely?

Parenting Wisely is an online, interactive course for parents of children ages 3 to 18 years of age. Parenting Wisely is recognized by OASAS (New York State) and SAMHSA (Federal), and has been shown to increase skills needed for combating substance use risk factors. 

 

Self-paced courses are available for parents of both young children and teenagers. The modules for both courses are listed below:

Young Child:

  • Acting Up in Public

  • Conflict with Other Children

  • Getting Ready for School

  • Homework & Bad Grades

  • Interrupting on the Telephone

  • Refusing to go to Bed

  • Sibling Conflict

Teenager:

  • Criticizing/Step parenting

  • Curfew

  • Finding Drugs

  • Getting Up on Time

  • Helping Children do better in School

  • Helping Children to do Housework

  • Loud Music, Chores Incomplete

  • Monitoring School, Homework and Friends

  • Sharing the Computer

  • Sibling Conflict
